We are very concerned about the security of the information you provide to us. Consequently, we have
a number of mechanisms in place to help ensure that all information you submit to DailyDiary.com is
carefully protected.
DailyDiary.com servers automatically log standard access information including ip number, browser
type, access times/open mail, url requested, and referral url. This type of technical information is
collected to detect usage patterns (including open mail rates) and for troubleshooting purposes.
As stated on our Privacy Policy, this information would only be shared
with third parties in aggregate form--any individually identifiable information related to such data
will never be shared without your explicit permission.
All information we receive is stored in a physically secure, environmentally controlled location, to
which only limited, authorized Operations and Facilities personnel have access. System access is
only available to authorized Operations personnel, who use traditional UNIX authentication processes
for access to production systems.
Please note that DailyDiary does not use encryption mechanisms during the transmission of user
data to the site. Note that this type of encryption is generally used by commerce-oriented Web sites
that conduct credit card transactions (this is currently not relevant to DailyDiary).
Personal/demographic information submitted by a user is retained on our servers until a user
unsubscribes. Automatically-logged technical information (described above) is stored for no longer
than 90 days, and is subsequently destroyed or overwritten.
On the user end, DailyDiary has set up a password system to ensure that only you can access your
personal information. Although the acceptable minimum password length is 1 character, we recommend
that you use at least 6 characters, and that you use a random combination of letters, numbers, and
cases to provide added protection for your personal information (for instance: 'Adg56lz' would be
a good password). These passwords are encrypted before they are stored at DailyDiary. At no
time do any personnel at DailyDiary have access to a user's password. If an incorrect password is
supplied, or if a user simply forgets their password, the user may click on the "Did You Forget
Your Password" link to have their password emailed to them.
Each time a user enters the site they will be required to authenticate their identity by entering
their previously supplied email address (or nickname) and password unless they have previously
chosen to use a cookie to store this information and are accessing the site from the same machine
previously used. Upon successful login, users may be issued an invisible and unique "session id"
(does not include any personally identifiable information) which is good for sixty (60) minutes.
